Estimate vs. quote

Both tell a client what a job will cost before you start. The difference is how firm the price is.

    Your documents Pro

With Pro, every invoice you download is kept here with its status, so you can track who has paid, reuse it and number the next one automatically.

    Estimate

An approximate price based on what you know now. Use it when the scope may change, for example repairs where you can't see the problem until you open the wall. Say how much the final price may vary.

    Quote

A fixed price for a clearly defined scope, valid until a date. Use it when you know exactly what the job involves. Once the client accepts, you are expected to do the job for that price.

    Then the invoice

After the work is done, you bill with an invoice. In the generator, switch the Type from Estimate or Quote to Invoice and all the details carry over.

    Frequently asked questions

    Can an estimate change?

Yes, that is the point of an estimate. Tell the client in advance how changes will be approved, and get large changes approved in writing.

    Is InvoiceCrisp really free?

Yes. You can create and download unlimited invoices, estimates and receipts for free, with no sign-up. The free version uses the Classic template and adds a small "Created with InvoiceCrisp" line at the bottom. Pro removes it and adds more templates, saved clients and history.

    Where is my data stored?

Only in your browser, on your device. Your business details, clients and invoices are never uploaded to our servers. Use "Back up data" to keep a copy or move it to another computer.
