What to include on a construction invoice
- Project name, address and contract number
- Which phase or milestone this invoice covers
- Approved change orders as separate lines
- Retainage held back, if your contract has it
- Your license number and lien-waiver terms where required
Get paid faster
Bill each phase the day it passes inspection, and attach the signed change orders: approvals in writing are what get paid without dispute.
Put clear payment instructions (bank transfer, Zelle, Venmo, PayPal or card link) in the Payment details box, so paying you takes one step.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an AIA-style progress billing form?
It is a simpler progress invoice. It covers most residential and small commercial jobs; projects that require AIA G702/G703 forms need those specific documents.
Is InvoiceCrisp really free?
Yes. You can create and download unlimited invoices, estimates and receipts for free, with no sign-up. The free version uses the Classic template and adds a small "Created with InvoiceCrisp" line at the bottom. Pro removes it and adds more templates, saved clients and history.
Where is my data stored?
Only in your browser, on your device. Your business details, clients and invoices are never uploaded to our servers. Use "Back up data" to keep a copy or move it to another computer.
How do I send the invoice to my client?
Download the PDF and attach it to an email, or send it through your messaging app. PDF opens the same way on every computer and phone.
